Liposuction techniques
We offer several techniques. The best one for you depends on your body type and the result you want.
- Tumescent liposuction: A special solution (tumescent fluid) is injected into the treated area to numb it and constrict the blood vessels. This reduces bleeding and bruising and makes the treatment safer and more comfortable.
- Power-assisted liposuction (PAL): A vibrating cannula breaks up the fat cells and makes them easier to remove, with less physical effort during surgery.
- Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL): Ultrasonic energy softens the fat cells so the cannula can remove them more easily.
- Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL): Laser energy liquefies the fat cells, allowing gentler fat removal and possible tightening of the skin.
Anaesthesia and surgery
Depending on the size of the treatment and your comfort, liposuction is performed under general anaesthesia or under local anaesthesia with sedation. Our surgeon makes a tiny incision in the treatment area and inserts a thin, hollow tube (cannula) through which the excess fat is removed. The incisions are placed carefully to leave as little visible scarring as possible.
Post-operative care and recovery
After liposuction you are monitored for a while in our recovery area. Once you are stable and fully awake, you can go home accompanied by a responsible adult. Some swelling, bruising and mild discomfort are normal in the early stage of recovery. Our staff give you complete instructions on caring for the treated area, managing pain and returning to your normal activities.
